Upon successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
- Have theoretical knowledge necessary to care for the patients with central lines and arterial lines
- Understand the importance of correct site selection for cannulation
- Choose the most appropriate device for cannulation and know the different types,
- Insertion of Central line using the Seldinger Technique.
- Safely prepare the patient and site.
- Appreciate the importance of personnel protective equipment and follow aseptic technique during insertion and removal.
- Aware of the complications of the cannulation and know how to minimize the risk of complications for patients.
There will be a video demonstration and hands on practice in putting central line and arterial puncture on a manikin that will help them in achieving their competency in central line insertion and care.
